英文摘要
It is well known that Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) has now reached a high level of maturity and that its usage in aircraft aerodynamic design is now widespread. Based on this immense success, the interest to transfer and apply the CFD technologies to other departments (and tasks) at aerospace manufacturers is important. However, as discussed by many authors, the challenges for the application of CFD to tasks such as loads calculation or the generation of stability and control data are still very important. Based on these premises, the main objective of the currently proposed research is to develop new fundamental knowledge and methodologies in support to the aeronautical CFD community. Our long term goal is to contribute to the CFD-based prediction of the aerodynamic coefficients for the full flight envelope of airplanes. The research proposed in this application comprise two different projects exploring two approaches to contribute to the main objective. In the first project, we will work on the development of the theory and methodologies for the prediction of modeling errors in CFD. Our objective in this project is to contribute to the development of a theoretical framework and to propose appropriate methodologies to compute modeling error estimations for hierarchies of compressible flow models. In the second project, we will investigate the development of surrogate models for computational fluid dynamics, especially external aerodynamics flows. Our objective in this project is to develop a comprehensive surrogate framework combining a hierarchy of solutions from various models with different fidelity, including experimental data and uncertainties estimates over the full flight envelope.
