This Engage proposal aims to address the problem of rapid dehydration of hydrogel materials. When surgical skills simulation training is conducted using tissue-like hydrogel materials, water evaporates from the hydrogel quickly. This rapid evaporation leads to the loss of the "tissue-like" property. In order to maintain the tissue-like property for a longer period of time, delaying the evaporation of water is needed. The applicant will address this problem by introducing polymers that bind water for longer time (akin a humectant molecule) to the formulation.
