Body scanning of humans is especially challenging, as any motion of the person during scanning will cause visible artifacts in the generated surface model. This Engage project aims to achieve the challenging combination of fast, high resolution, high accuracy, 3D full-body surface scanning of humans by a portable scanning system for use in entertainment as well as other industries such as fashion. Numerous combinations of parameters of the measurement system will be tested in order to optimize the system for the best trade-off between highest accuracy, scanning speed, and resolution.
