EHC Canada located in Ontario is the world largest escalator handrail supplier. Recently, EHC has entered an agreement with a leading international elevator producer to supply low cost thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) coated steel belt (CSB) products valued at $50 million. One of the key products in the agreement is the wax containing TPU coated steel belts. However, to have the robust and durable products, EHC needs to have a better mechanistic understanding of how wax components impact the important traction and wear properties of final CSB products. Therefore, through this engage project, EHC Canada and Professor Yan's team at the University of Toronto will form a new partnership to collaboratively explore methodologies that can measure the wax content in the end products and to obtain a better understanding of wax migration mechanisms. Based on the findings from this engage project, the two teams plan to expand the partnership to conduct further
