Cubresa, a privately held corporation headquartered in Winnipeg, is developing a tomographic scanner that employs gamma ray imaging, for preclinical research on small animals. The scanner features a slim bore, allowing Gamma cameras to be positioned and move 360 degrees on a fixed circular path close to a subject. Presently, the company is interested in attaching gamma cameras to an articulated robotic wrist capable of various types of sweeping motions. The proposed wrist + gamma camera is not currently available in the marketplace; thus, there is an opportunity to develop a new product to assist in various medical procedures including oncology surgery.
