英文摘要
The proposed research will provide biological information that will be used by Qubit Systems Inc. to develop novel technology for use by climate change researchers. Climate change is a growing economic, social, and environmental problem that is attracting a huge amount of research interest. Unfortunately, research on the impacts and potential for adaptation in the aquatic environment is hampered by the lack of cost-effective technology to accurately measure CO2 levels in water. We will carry out experiments in Canadian fish species to answer two questions that will help Qubit Systems refine and fully develop this new technology. Firstly, how quickly does the natural rate of CO2 production by a fish's metabolism adjust to changing conditions? Secondly, at what levels of elevated environmental CO2 does a fish's physiology become disrupted? The project will forge a new and lasting relationship with valuable economic benefits for Qubit Systems, and it will
