The understanding of the machinery of proteins is arguably the most important problem in science. Not only is it of the most fundamental biological interest, but it also is one of the most intriguing problems in physics. Schroedinger, noted: "that the single cog is not of coarse human make, but is the finest masterpiece ever achieved along the lines of the Lord's quantum mechanics." The cog he was referring to is an ordered biomolecule to do work; and particularly today, this means proteins.
