In collaboration with our industrial partner, PMC Sierra Inc., Burnaby, BC, we are requesting funds to develop technologies to improve the performance of their existing line of products. At the core of PMC business is digital transmission of data which requires reliable timing references. Through this research project, we aim to study the temperature stability of the current timing references in PMC's product line and devise methodologies to improve performance. In particular, we investigate the application new developments in the Integrated Multi-Transducer Systems laboratory (IMuTS Lab) on employing different vibration modes of a single resonator to stabilize the oscillator performance over the operational temperature range.
