Fanshawe College's School of Applied Science & Technology and industry partner Site Remediation Inc. (SRI) will undertake an applied research project to measure and better understand the mechanisms and use of SRI's novel membrane technology and its role in processes that require controlled, metered use of carbon dioxide in aqueous environments. This project will investigate the capacity of the SRI membrane to act as a dissolved gas transfer mechanism and the impact of temperature, surface area and system type on the efficacy of the membrane. Results and further research could lead to energy savings and new applications for superior membranes in industries such as medicine, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing. This project will provide training opportunities for students at Fanshawe College, contribute to the teaching curriculum, enhance the understanding of this membrane, potentially further develop it for alternate applications, and enable SRI to increase its workforce and offer an innovative Canadian solution to a larger, more diverse group of customers in Canada and abroad.
