Graphene is one of the best carbon allotropes that holds the promise of produce new materials with outstanding electrical and thermal properties. Combining graphene with the hollow silica microspheres recently developed by Materium Innovations Inc. allows the production of ultralight graphene-coated silica materials with multifunctional properties. The main objective is to develop highly thermally and electrically conductive composite materials using Materium graphene nanopellets and graphene-coated microparticles. The research will focus on finding the optimal dispersing strategy of these silica-graphene additives in epoxy and silicone resins, and to benchmark their electrical and thermal properties against commonly used additives.
