项目摘要
Microwave imaging and sensing techniques provide information on an object under test. This involves
measuring signals transmitted through and/or reflected from the object. EMSCAN has developed sensor arrays
that are typically used to assess signals radiated from circuit boards or antennas. For microwave imaging and
sensing problems, EMSCAN products would benefit from optimization for these specific applications.
Together, we are interested in developing a specialized array of sensors to detect signals transmitted through an
object when the sensor array is in contact with that object. The information collected by the array enables the
reconstruction of a multi-dimensional image of the object's electrical properties. Applications of the system
include non-destructive testing where specific properties of a material need to be known without accessing the
interior of the object. It may also have potential for medical imaging, particularly for breast cancer detection
and treatment monitoring, by providing new information on breast tissues. Long term, the proposed product
will be unique worldwide, placing EMSCAN as leader in this emerging technology.
