The proposed project is to explore the application of the new energy harvesting technology into the powertrain system, harnessing the vibration energy of flexplates for powering these sensor monitoring systems. A flexplate is a metal disk that connects the output from an engine to the input of a torque converter in a car equipped with an automatic transmission. Magna Powertrain is a premier supplier for the global automotive industry with full capabilities in powertrain design, development, testing and manufacturing and is the largest flexplate supplier in the world. Magna Powertrain is strongly interested in it and supportive of the proposed project.
