项目摘要
Polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) is a renewable biopolymer obtained from microbial fermentation. The current
challenge of PHB derived materials includes finding a 'killer application' that can substitute the current
petroleum-based commodity polymers. Whereas food packaging and biomedical applications have been
suggested as suitable applications, diversifying the application to large-quantity application can significantly
boost the biopolymer production industry. Recently, PHB-derived material exhibited a nearly constant
dielectric loss behavior over a broad frequency range (0.01 - 10e+7 Hz), suggesting that PHB can be a
compelling material for broadband capacitors. Here, we will investigate processing/property relationship of
modified PHB materials. Specifically, we will study complex dielectric properties and mechanical properties.
