英文摘要
Carleton University and New Energy Group are developing smart micro-grids which support Canada's goal of decarbonization. A micro-grid is a system which links and optimizes: (i) local demand, (ii) local supply alternatives such as renewables, (iii) local storage, and (iv) energy import and export with the "macro-grid". Of immediate interest are cold-climate communities with a mix of energy storage and generation technologies and added controls to balance on-site loads. The company specific problem is that micro-grid design studies require detailed community load profiles which are not available until a project is in the operational phase. We propose utilizing building and district energy modelling software to overcome this problem and explore the potential micro-grid technology combinations. The goal is to identify which combinations of technologies are ideal for micro-grids in Canada using an optimization approach.
