Armour Therapeutics Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company based in Toronto, Ontario that has developed a candidate drug for advanced prostate cancer (PCa), the most common type of cancer among men in Canada and in the developed world. The candidate drug, AT-001, offers the potential for patients to continue hormone therapy even beyond the point where tumours become insensitive to traditional anti-hormone therapies. While Armour Therapeutics has made progress to bring AT-001 to the clinic, key questions related to the effects of AT-001 on blood vessel growth, or angiogenesis, remain unanswered. Furthermore, drug regulatory bodies are increasingly favouring the development of complementary diagnostic tests, termed companion diagnostic
