IBI Group is a leading engineering firm with experience in planning, design, deployment, and operation of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Connected Vehicle (CV) technology, the latest development within ITS, facilitates wireless communications between vehicles, and between vehicles and infrastructure, in a high-mobility environment. Governments and many companies worldwide envision CV technology as the future of the ITS industry. Recognizing this trend, IBI is considering innovative ways in which CV technology can be incorporated into planning transportation infrastructure. IBI chose to partner with the U of A ITS research team to investigate the future trend of CV technology in the context of transit signal priority, and develop a CV-based method for assessing and improving current transit signal priority control performance.
