Soon, vehicles will be talking directly with other vehicles and roadside infrastructure, enabling fully cooperative transportation. Connectivity between vehicles and infrastructure is expected to improve road safety and travel efficiency, helping drivers make decisions based on real-time information. Dr. Qiu will develop and evaluate methods of integrating connected vehicle (CV) technology with existing data sources and infrastructure to obtain more accurate and reliable information, which can then be used to monitor and manage traffic more proactively. The findings will provide a better understanding of challenges and benefits regarding CV implementation and its role in the multimodal traffic environment.
