The goal of this project is to develop software and computer models of the human body. We are particularly interested in modeling the behavior of skin, and the soft tissues underneath the skin, when humans interact with physical objects in their environment.The project builds upon our recent breakthroughs in simulating skin-like materials and soft tissues that move in close contact, and software developed during Phase I of this project. In Phase II, the focus is on enhancing the software, developing new methods to customize simulations to specific individuals, and validating the predictions made by our computer simulations.The human simulation software developed in this project is applicable in a wide range of markets whose products interact with the human body. Applications range from product design to human health, as well as computer generated animations of human-like characters in films, video games, and virtual reality.
