Several polymers are used for the fabrication of adhesives and coatings. Poly(vinyl acetate) latexes arepolymers that are stable in aqueous dispersion. These polymers are environmentally friendly and exhibitsuperior prospects due to their waterborne nature, having lower volatile organic compounds and betterfilm-forming property. However, the accumulation of static charges on the surface of these polymers is a majorproblem for using them as adhesives or coatings. This is why it is important to determine if the change in theexperimental conditions of the preparation of these polymers can affect their electrostatic properties. Ourshort-term objective is thus to determine the electrostatic properties of several poly(vinyl acetate) latexes inorder to develop novel latexes with appropriate electrostatic properties.
