Virtual Reality (VR) environments have been the purview of specialized gaming engines, but internet webservers and associated networking approaches promise to broaden the reach of VR, which will permit manymore uses of the technology including education and museums. WebVR is a forthcoming standard for VR inthe browser, but it comes with many performance and optimization challenges. In a VR environment, the framerate and fidelity of interaction are all critical in order to prevent simulator sickness and maintain the illusion ofoperating in the real world. The use of lightweight Docker containers enables subsystems to process graphicaloperations in parallel while meeting the performance expectations of the user. This project considers back-endarchitecture and web rendering technologies to maintain realistic virtual environments.
