Measurement of temperatures may offer an efficient means of tracking movement of deep fluids from deep reservoirs to shallow aquifers through leaking wells. However, modeling approaches are not well developed for this purpose. This study will assess whether existing numerical modeling tools can adequately simulate such situations. Results will be used to design future monitoring programs.
