Oil and gas companies in Southern Saskatchewan rely on groundwater resources for hydraulic fracturing and enhanced oil recovery operations. Shallow aquifers in this region are of limited extent and receive low amounts of recharge. Deeper aquifers that have poorer water quality could provide a more secure water supply for oil and gas operations. These aquifers are not well characterized and their capacity to produce water is not well understood. This project is the first step in the development of a program to characterize these deeper aquifers.
