Kluane Lake Research Station (KLRS) has been operating in Yukon Territory since 1961, providing a platform for a rich array of long-running research programs in Earth, environmental, and biological sciences. The station is located in the foothills of the St Elias Mountains, Canada’s highest mountain range, connecting researchers to a dynamic environment at the junction of northern alpine, boreal forest, and lacustrine ecosystems. The environment surrounding KLRS and the long-term ecological and glaciological research programs supported by the station are unique within Canada. KLRS is the only western Canadian research station in the International Network for Terrestrial Research and Monitoring in the Arctic.
