英文摘要
The advent of quantum mechanics radically changed our view of the physical world, and led to revolutionary new technologies (e.g. the transistor, the laser). We currently stand at the verge of a new quantum revolution with a potential for applications and insights equal to the advances of the past. My research involves developing new theoretical frameworks for understanding and controlling quantum behaviour in new kinds of engineered electronic, mechanical and optical systems. It will lead to a deeper understanding of macroscopic quantum phenomena, and will contribute to the quest for new quantum technologies (such as a quantum computer).
