Green Chemistry provides a new approach to reconciling the economic and environmental issues associated with chemical manufacture and use. The focus of this Chair in Green Chemistry is the discovery of novel chemical reactions of high efficiency and high atom-economy. In particular, this research will involve (i) further development of C-C bond formations via the catalytic activation of C-H bonds in water (ii) extension of the Cross-Dehydrogenative-Coupling (CDC) reactions pioneered by the Li group (iii) investigation of asymmetric C-C bond formations, in water, and (iv) application of Green methods in synthesis.
