Domtar, a company that operates 12 pulp and paper mills across North America and manages a supply chain of**> 25 million green tons of biomass per year to manufacture wood fiber-based products, has taken on an**ambitious goal to reduce the carbon footprint of the mills through development and integration of biorefinery at**their mills. Concurrently, they are also investigating potential carbon capture and conversion schemes from**their kilns, to further target CO2 emissions reductions and conversion of CO2 to valuable products. Carbon**capture and conversion is an active area of research with various technologies are being developed at various**technology readiness levels (TRL). This project aims at conducting an analysis of the capture and conversion**technologies that are higher TRL with a potential to integrate into the pulp mill, specifically at the Windsor**Quebec mill, where the biorefinery concept is being implemented. Technical, economic, and environmental**criteria will be assessed for potential implementation of technology with emphasis on integration into the mill**and generating synergistic positive impacts. A successful project will guide Domtar to further develop the**technology integration and reduce the GHG emissions across Domtar's pulp and paper manufacturing systems.
