项目摘要
The goal of the Canada Research Chair in Condensed Matter Physics is a better under-standing of the fundamental physical limits to technology. This is accomplished through precision studies of nanomagnetism using ultrafast optics, scanning probe microscopy, and the revolutionary new measurement techniques of on-chip cavity opto-mechanics. My group is also a source of exceptional, highly-trained personnel to support the local nanoscale science and technology community. The first two terms of this CRC, as an important component of a broad-based effort, helped to establish the critical mass of nanotech activity now conducted in Edmonton through the UAlberta*NanoFab, within the National Institute for Nanotechnology (NINT), and in the Centennial Centre for Interdisciplinary Science.**This proposal requests support for our continuing innovative efforts, including the development and deployment of a nanomechanical lab-on-a-chip for magnetism.*
