We propose to develop a novel and comprehensive methodology and architecture for secure and privacy protective data management in a variety of sectors such as healthcare, banking and government. The proposed approach leverages and builds upon the recent emergence of Photo-Plethysmography (PPG) biometrics as a promising technology for user recognition. The proposal addresses the need for secure communication and authentication of personal information which at the same time is characterized by enhanced privacy and confidentiality.****It is expected that the proposed research will drive development of novel pattern recognition and machine learning algorithms to design robust PPG biometric signatures and meet the standards led by other biometric modalities, such as the fingerprint, for the real world applications. The outcome of this research will be a practical, privacy oriented and effective security system that can be directly applied in securing personal information records in many application sectors.****The proposed framework constitutes a simple, inexpensive and effective solution that utilizes a novel biometric crypto-system to provide a realistic and feasible way to secure sensitive personal information. The proposed project will realize the full potential of the PPG data which are routinely collected by numerous portable devices for health monitoring by offering effective data security and privacy protection for that same data and other personal data.********
