英文摘要
PexCor PEX pipes are manufactured and receive certification for certain service environments (ratings for**pressure, and temperature, proper installation procedure) to ensure adequate rated service life. If a pipe**occasionally fails prematurely PexCor needs to understand the root cause. Unfortunately one cannot install**pressure and temperature sensors in every system to ensure that the service parameters were not exceeded**during operation. X-ray crystallography may give an opportunity to see if there are any resolvable features in**stressed pipe to indicate high stress.**PexCor has the capability to subject PEX pipe to carefully controlled pressure and temperature stresses. A**series of pipe samples with a known stress history will be prepared and provided for the University of Guelph**x-ray diffraction lead by Prof Stefan Kycia. A thorough set of x-ray diffraction and scattering measurements**will be conducted on the samples to see if it is possible to track with the induced stress. X-ray diffraction is**sensitive to the preferred orientation, crystal quality, crystal structure, disorder, amorphous component, and**strain in the high density polyethylene tubing.**Solving this problem will require a thorough x-ray diffraction characterization of the samples. Measurements**will be conducted at the University of Guelph X-Ray Diffraction Laboratory as well as the Brockhouse Sector**at the Canadian Light Source.
