The use of laptops, cell phones, and other digital devices as teaching and learning tools in the classroom is becoming more prominent, and during class time these devices allow students and instructors to easily share documents and allow students to take notes for later study. Younger generations are accustomed to integrating digital devices into their everyday life and therefore it is important to embrace this device use in class so long as it has a positive influence on student learning and participation. Long-hand notetaking has been shown to associated with better learning than taking notes on a laptop, in particular for conceptual learning. This study aims to assess whether or not these benefits can also be achieved using Digital Paper.
