New materials with properties previously not imaginable continue to transform our lives.**We are entering an era where we can synthesize new materials designed at the molecular level with useful**macroscopic properties.**One challenge with taking advantage of these new technological capabilities is the ability to accurately predict**the behaviour of a new material when quantum effects are significant in determining its macroscopic**properties. Synthesis of trillions of trillions of different configurations is infeasible.**Quantum computers offer the possibility to test and optimize countless molecular designs in software and thus**to focus expensive experimental efforts on a promising shortlist.**This project brings together the world leading expertise of Waterloo's Quantum Software Group at the Institute**for Quantum Computing and OTI's expertise in quantum chemistry and organic light-emitting diode (OLED)**design in order to develop new quantum circuits for simulating the electronic structure of OLED materials.
