Urban and suburban growth modifies the hydrological cycle by expanding impermeable surfaces thus modifying hydrological processes at the watershed scale (decreased infiltration and evapotranspiration; increased rapid runoff, runoff volumes and peak flows from stormwater). Urbanisation also contributes to increased delivery of pollutants to streams and water bodies. Green infrastructure, typically referred to as low-impact development (LID) practices has been used worldwide to manage non-point source water quantity and quality in urbanised environments. Such practices include, for instance, green roofs, permeable pavements, rain barrels, etc. The local-scale effect of LID practices has been well documented in the scientific literature. There is now a growing interest and clear scientific need for the development of integrated tools that can assist decision makers and engineers in semi-automatic site selection for multiple LID practices, as they elaborate water management master plans at the watershed scale. Such tools should be able to take advantage of urban hydrological modelling, and of high-resolution spatialized information. In collaboration with Lasalle | NHC, this projects aims at studying how the spatial information treatment in ArcGIS can be more effectively exploited to guide the identification of which LID practice is better suited for which location, to provide a pragmatic approach to scale LID practices at the watershed scale.******
