In order to improve its position towards its competitors, the development of more efficient, sustainable, "green" and less expensive products is the main priority. So the main objective of this project is therefore the improvement of two important properties: mechanical resistance and heat resistance. Nevertheless, these improvements must be made while minimizing raw material and manufacturing costs. The sub-objectives of this project are the understanding of the reinforcements' dispersion in rubber, optimization of molding conditions (shaping and vulcanization) and understanding of the of materials' behavior in laboratory (analysis on small samples) and real life (in the field) conditions. For this purpose, it is proposed to develop formulations from different types of reinforcements: biosourced materials such as cellulose and/or different agro-forestry residues, or different types of nanoparticles such as graphite, graphene and carbon nanotubes. In order to maximize the final properties, two types of structures will be studied: multi-scale reinforcements (combination of different reinforcements with orders of magnitude difference in size) and hybrid reinforcements (mixture of two or more types of reinforcements). Finally, the development of more efficient rubbers will solve a problem of long-term use and stability (degradation by high-temperature heating) for parts with better mechanical strength.****
