It is important to validate the effectiveness of field portable radiation detection equipment designed to triage persons potentially exposed to airborne releases of radioactivity under realistic contamination geometries. To this end, a test platform with the shape, dimensions and tissue characteristics of an androgynous generic human (typically called an anthropomorphic phantom) is needed, that can have configurable postures and flexibility in location of a variety of radiation sources. This research project is to produce such a phantom and test using typical field portable radiation instruments.
