Bishop Water Technologies Inc. (BWT) offers low-energy, efficient, and cost-effective wastewater treatment solutions with a low environmental footprint. Due to an increased focus by government regarding nutrient loading into water bodies from point-source and non-point source human activities, many municipalities are facing more stringent regulations pertaining to wastewater effluent quality. Nutrients like phosphorous and nitrogen are commonly found in wastewater and each requires different removal techniques. In partnership with Lambton College, BWT is looking to develop an integrated online control for process optimization of BioCord reactors for total nitrogen removal.Traditional wastewater treatment technologies can be expensive for municipalities to obtain. BWT's focus is on the development and implementation of simple, cost effective, environmentally engineered solutions. GeoTube® Technology and BioCordTM Reactors are two of BWT's technologies gaining traction as sustainable, cost-efficient solutions in the dewatering and nutrient removal stages of wastewater treatment. The success of the proposed project will enhance BioCord technology through control integration, allowing for total nitrogen removal while providing BWT clients with a better-designed system to treat their wastewater, that is sustainable and cost-effective. In addition, a more sophisticated technology will give BWT a competitive advantage and can be also proposed in other market segmentation.
