SolarSteam Inc. is a private renewable technology company that designs, manufactures, installs, and servicesconcentrating solar-thermal technology and systems for customers requiring heat for industrial processes, andheating and cooling applications. Based in Calgary, Alberta, SolarSteam is pursuing the development andcommercialization of a unique design of a proven solar technology targeting customers in extreme climates.SolarSteam generators can be operated in conjunction with existing steam boilers to reduce environmentalimpact by displacing the number of carbon emissions produced in fuel consumption for conventional steamgeneration. Recently, the company has secured support from a multi-billion-dollar company. SolarSteam islooking to integrate their thermal heat solution into petrochemical facilities' current thermal processes, however, they are facing challenges to fully execute the development since they do not have extensivepetrochemical industry development expertise. In collaboration, SolarSteam and Lambton College will focus on the research, design, model, simulation, andtesting of the integration of SolarSteam energy system into an existing petrochemical facility. The researchteam will also build a prototype through simulation and conduct testing to identify the parameters to maximizethe efficiency of the system compared with the simulation model. These results will be used to scale upoperations of the SolarSteam technology integrating with petrochemical facilities for commercialization. Thesuccess of the proposed project will enhance heavy and small industry production with solar energy acrossmultiple sectors, as well as reduce costs, carbon emissions, and create additional jobs along the supply chain. Itis anticipated that the results from this project will be the foundation for the next steps of a pilot project.Further leading to new customers and revenues up to $40M CAD in the next five years with additional jobcreation of up to 30 new positions.
