SmartHalo Technologies Inc. is a Quebec company involved in the development and marketing of connected products for bicycles and non-automotive transportation vehicles. In order to grow in the field of providing a range of mobile IoT devices for navigation assistance, traceability and anti-theft measures for bicycles, SmartHalo would like to develop a 5G compatible LTE gateway to extend the scope of use of its products beyond urban WiFi networks. The connector technology developed operating under a new LTE-M network will serve as a Data transfer point for SmartHalo devices while complying with the constraints of small physical size (4 cm), low power consumption and security against cyber-piracy. Indeed, the LTE-M network provides extensive service coverage and the use of a cellular base compatible with the next 5G networks, but this development requires research to find solutions that meet all the constraints of this application case. To do this, SmartHalo is seeking C2T3's expertise in wireless telecommunications and interconnected objects (IoT) to develop this new 5G compatible technology. For SmartHalo, this research project is an important vehicle for innovation and growth to position itself in the emerging market of intelligent connectivity (i.e. fusion of LTE, IoT and artificial intelligence networks) adapted to non-automotive transport, through expertise on the technological means to achieve such a goal.
