The aim of the research project is to develop a cost-effective harmonic mitigating device that would eliminate harmonics and improve the system power factor to unity. The proposed device will reduce current/voltage distortions in power systems, help equipment operate more effectively and allow mission critical machinery to function without risk of failure. The proposed project will allow the industrial partner (Rex Power Magnetics) to provide innovative new technology and take the role as supplier of harmonic mitigation and power quality improvement, creating vital jobs in Canada. Humber students, involved in the research project, will participate in the design, help build and test the device prototype.
