In the subsequent term the Canada Research Chair plans to continue to develop the science behind polymer (plastics) that are semiconducting and contain the elements selenium and tellurium. New advanced structures with properties well suited for solar cells and thin-film transistors are targeted. In addition the Chair plans to devote increasing time to develop materials for energy storage and materials that are derived from renewable resources. Lithium ion batteries and other novel batteries will be developed.
