Saskatchewan Polytechnic is requesting a hyperspectral camera - remotely piloted aircraft system (RPAS) mountable - to foster continued innovation in the natural resources sector. This hyperspectral camera will assist in increasing the polytechnic's capacity for applied research in the natural resources and agricultural sectors. With this technology, Saskatchewan Polytechnic will advance its research capability, while allowing better access to high-quality competitive projects. The Polytechnic intends to use and develop this technology for vegetation analysis, assessment of wildlife habitat, mining technology, pollution detection, and various aspects of forest industry development. Saskatchewan Polytechnic has existing relationships with most industries in Saskatchewan through the many programs offered. Making this equipment available would foster innovation in the private sector; particularly for the many SME's who are unable to afford the startup costs of accessing such technology independently. Saskatchewan Polytechnic will be able to add value to remote sensing projects with hyperspectral imagery to demonstrate the capabilities of this equipment and spark innovation and collaboration in partnering agencies.
