英文摘要
K-Light Recycling (K-Light) is a Canadian company established in 2004 with headquarter facility based in Regina Saskatchewan. K-Light is specialized in recycling all types of lamps and light fixture products. Currently, K-light recycles 100% of lamps components in their specialized recycling facility. The company takes pride in being an innovative and proactive company and strives to introduce new lines of recycling to their business. K-Light is seeking partnership with Saskatchewan Polytechnic to develop a new line of recycling to recycle the components of fiber optics cables. Fiber optics cables are currently disposed in landfills at the end of their life. The aim of this project is to develop a protocol to extract the plastic and fiber material from the fiber optics cables and identify potential channels to feedback the retrieved plastic and fibers into the economic cycle. The project will evaluate the cost-benefit of the new recycling line and will guide future investments to build and implement the new line in the current operations of K-light.
