Titan Carbon Smart Technologies (Titan) is a Canadian company established in 2006 with head office in Craik, Saskatchewan. Titan produces several biocarbon products out of treated wood and other waste material from construction and demolition waste. Currently, Titan carbons are used in several products as animal feed, odor eliminator, as well as an ingredient in health and wellness and soil fertilizing products. Titan is seeking partnership with Saskatchewan Polytechnic to develop concentrated biocarbon masterbatch pellets that have the potential to replace carbon black in all thermoplastic applications. The masterbatch is intended to act as a filler to enhance the performance of the thermoplastic to improve conductivity and resistance to UV radiation. The masterbatch will also be used as colorant; black pigment. The aim of this project is to develop bio-carbon pellets that provide several properties combined in one product. The bio-carbon pellets are suitable to a wide range of industries and application; e.g. automobiles, packaging, 3D printing, and textile. This project will deliver an alternative to carbon black masterbatch for thermoplastic industries globally that can easily be adopted across the Globe.
