项目摘要
Emerging contaminants that enter waterways as a result of human activities can profoundly affect ecosystem and human health. The objectives of the proposed research program are to (1) understand the fate of emerging contaminants in the environment, (2) develop novel water treatment technologies based on natural processes, and (3) provide a framework for the application of stable isotope techniques to two unexplored areas: emerging contaminants and surface water environments. A multi-disciplinary approach based on novel and integrative tools will be employed to design cost-effective solutions to water quality issues.
