项目摘要

A molecule is chiral if its mirror image cannot be superimposed onto itself. Chirality is ubiquitous in biological systems and essential for life. By creatively combining diverse areas of chiral science into her research program, Xu aims to provide answers to many challenges in chiral chemistry. Her team will design and execute original and innovative experiments to quantify intermolecular interactions responsible for chirality recognition/transfer/amplification in isolated molecular clusters, in solution, and at liquid/liquid interfaces. The research outcome will be important for developing a broad range of chiral technologies from sensors for pharmaceutical processes to novel catalysts for chiral drug syntheses.
