The Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT Polytechnic) proposes to establish an NSERC IndustrialResearch Chair for Colleges within the department of Applied Research and Innovation Services (ARIS) inorder to assist the oil sands industry in Alberta and Western Canada to find pragmatic solutions to challengesassociated with steam generation for in situ Oil Sands. The rationale for establishing the proposed IndustrialResearch Chair for Colleges in Oil Sands In Situ Steam Generation is to create a unique, world class appliedresearch program that will help the energy sector make crucial reductions in fresh water usage and increaseefficiency in steam/water recycling rates, while supporting cleaner energy production.
