It has been reported that 90% of all the data in the world has been generated over the past two years either through user-generated content or by scientific or industrial entities. Analytics software applications, large-scale and data-intensive, can extract insight from this abundant data if they are systematically designed. The pressing challenge is to develop data analytics software methodologies and platforms that can help with the understanding of the value and meaning of this data. This research project is uniquely positioned to address this challenge by equipping software engineers and data scientists with suitable tools and techniques for developing data analytics software applications that have the right set of functionality and are resilient to large amounts of data.
