The long-term program of the Chair is to consolidate ecological and network theories to quantify how biotic and abiotic processes affect the persistence of species distributions and their interactions in fragmented landscapes. The Chair will develop an adaptive network-of-networks framework and meta-models to test the feedback effects of network properties on ecological networks spatial complexity. Such integrative models will impact our mechanistic understanding of species interactions, and provide new insights into conservation and disease ecology. The Chair will train the next generation of High Quality Personnel with the multidisciplinary and quantitative skills needed to tackle theoretical and applied conservation issues.
