Realistic computer generated human faces are critical to human communication using digital media. A diverse set of applications ranging from entertainment (movies and games), medicine (facial therapy, prosthetics and forensics), education (language and speech training), avatars (social media, cyber assistants), are all empowered by the ability to realistically model, animate and fabricate 3D human faces. We propose to build a facial animation platform that combines aspects of human anatomy, biomechanics, psycho-linguistics, machine learning, facial perception, interactive character animation, augmented and virtual reality AR/VR and 3D printing, to achieve unprecedented expressive realism with digitally modeled and animated characters.
