Fleming College's Centre for Advancement of Water and Wastewater Technology (CAWT) is a world-class water research centre founded in 2002 that became an NSERC Technology Access Centre (TAC) in 2014. In 2017 the CAWT TACs analytical laboratory was ISO/IEC 17025 certified by the Canadian Association for Laboratory Accreditation. The CAWT TAC is dedicated to providing small- to medium-sized water sector companies with applied research and innovation support, allowing the companies to become more competitive, expand their businesses, and achieve economic success. The water sector in North America is highly regulated, forcing many companies to secure some sort of validation or verification of their technologies and services. Over the next five years the CAWT TAC will be expanding its third-party performance measurement services to include standards and certifications that are sought after by the water and wastewater industry. In addition to offering more performance measurement services, the CAWT TAC will be increasing its laboratory analysis services to include several new parameters (both accredited and non-accredited) and improved methods. Many of the intended tests are required for working with water reclamation and resource recovery, an area of increasing concern and interest for industry.
