英文摘要
Demine Robotics Inc. is a Canadian start-up company based in Waterloo, Ontario. Demine uses robotics to make the most dangerous stages of humanitarian demining faster and safer. Their technology allows deminers to excavate landmines and UXOs (unexploded ordnances) using a remote-controlled tool, rather than by hand. Demine built a robotic anti-personnel mine-diffuser; however, after numerous conversations with deminers and demining technical experts, it became clear that the much more pressing need was a better approach to excavating explosives from the ground. Demine Robotics has developed the Jevit - a remote controlled landmine clearance system. The system utilizes a Bobcat MT85 as the base platform, with an advanced, 4-camera, sensor-enabled control system fitted to enable use in hazardous areas from a safe, non-line-of-site control position. The mine-excavator attachment allows precise removal of explosives from the ground, and safe transportation to a disposal site. Competing technologies are larger, more expensive, and highly destructive to the area being cleared. Through the proposed project in collaboration with Lambton College's Lambton Manufacturing Innovaton Centre Demine a design for manufacturability will be conducted on the Jevit design with a focus on modular, cost effective component replacement, or the incorporation of shielding to protect sensitive components. The results of the project will allow for Demine to scale up production in Southern Ontario, creating jobs and economic impact for Canada and the Province.
